Lifelines Corona research

Lifelines NEXT is participating in Lifelines Corona research. In this study, Lifelines and Lifelines NEXT participants are sent questionnaires for a number of months. With this data, researchers aim to map out, among other things, which factors determine why one person becomes very ill from Corona while another does not and what the effect of the pandemic is on our well-being. You can find all the information about the Lifelines Corona study here.

Project leader of Lifelines NEXT Jackie Dekens explains how the questionnaire of the Lifelines Corona study came about: "It was a shopping list of questions such as: 'How do you feel? What physical complaints do you experience? How is it going at home?’ All the kinds of questions that had to form the core of the Lifelines Corona research. I was then asked to make a questionnaire based on this list." Read Jackie's full story here, including what Corona has done to her personally.

One of the participants in the Lifelines Corona study is Lifelines NEXT participant Elien Padje (26). Elien, who became a brand new mother during the Corona crisis, fills in the Corona questionnaire every week. Describing her life during the Corona crisis, she says: "I now zoom-in weekly on the health of my family, which recently grew to three." Read Elien's story here.

In recent months, we have received thousands of completed Corona questionnaires. To give everyone a glimpse into that data, the Corona Barometer was launched. The barometer is expanded every week so that everyone can see the developments. In this way, we also make the Lifelines Corona study visible to all participants! Take a look at www.coronabarometer.nl.

We want to know more about the coronavirus, but collecting, processing and analyzing all that information costs a lot of money. We can fill some of that gap from our own side, but we're not there yet, which is why we also started crowdfunding. Are you interested in participating in crowdfunding to fight Corona? More information can be found here.
