Main effects of serum electrolyte concentrations on different ECG traits: a multi-cohort epidemiological analysis and GxE GWAS meta-analysis
It is generally known that electrolytes (e.g. calcium, potassium, sodium and magnesium) are required in the normal electrophysiology of the heart. However, besides studies on the effect of clinical disturbances (clinically low or high) electrolyte concentrations, the impact of electrolytes on ECG traits in the general population is unclear. After earlier analyses identified the calcium concentration as being associated with ECG traits, we now want to investigate this association in a gene x environment analysis.
