Parent-of-Origin expression quantitative trait loci (eQTLs)

Studies investigating the impact of the parental origin of alleles on complex traits have shown significant impact on several phenotypes. Exploring how these variants interact with gene expression levels and the parent-specific expression of those genes can yield more evidence for clinical investigations into diseases. Notably, the parental origin of alleles has been linked to type-2 diabetes and telomere length, which could, among others, provide valuable candidate genes for understanding cancer progression and cellular aging.
